During a nice long MLK weekend, some of the family once again ventured down to Key West, Florida and it was full of the usual adventures but it did include some new ones! We have been to Key West many times and you might as well call it a home away from home for the Withers family. We have stayed at many different hotels and houses but this year we were at The Lighthouse Motel. We also drove from Ft. Lauderdale to Key West just like last year so we got to witness all of the different Keys from the road and it was all amazing to see again!
Below you can find some of our usual spots and activities that we experienced as well as some new ones and I know I’m missing some but here they are…
Blue Heaven
Fishing with Captain Dan
Half Shell Raw Bar
Mallory Square
Lighthouse Hotel
Smathers’ Beach
Parasailing with Mom!
Quality time with Gary Coop (the kitty you will see below)
the Key West Half Marathon
Pianist and Singer Boodle Boodle Boodle at Mango’s
Fort Zachary Taylor State Park
Key West Wildlife Center
The Rum Bar
Oldest House Museum
Hogfish Bar & Grill
Firefly
Matheson’s Ice Cream (only every day)
Bingo and popcorn at the Green Parrot
Glazed Donuts & Coffee
Many tacos at Amigo’s
When I look over this list I can’t believe we did all of this and ate at all of these places in 5 days! I enjoyed every bit of eating so many delicious meals, spending quality time with family and friends, trying new places, and running a scenic but windy half marathon!
Favorite activity: Parasailing with Mom – the last time we did this I was in 1st grade 🙂
Favorite meal: tough decision BUT probably the Hogfish tacos at Hogfish Bar & Grill
Favorite new spot: Mango’s featuring the pianist and performer Boodle Boodle Boodle!
