I had a video class with Rachad at Lynchburg College (now University of Lynchburg) and I even photographed him and Katie as they competed for the track and field team when I was a student photographer. It still feels surreal that they got married last weekend with the one and only Dr. Roux as the officiant, and even with some old Lynchburg friends in attendance. I have known Rachad and Katie for years and I am still so honored and grateful that they asked me to photograph their wedding day.

    It was June 30, 2018 at Evergreen Country Club in Haymarket, Virginia and Katie had all of the details and beautiful moments planned out that any photographer could have wanted to document. For starters, she and Rachad exchanged letters, which I am a big time sucker for. I have a lunch box full of them from over the years and will probably continue to save any letter I receive in the future. Katie and Rachad also gave gifts to parents (ending with some tears of course) and Dr. Roux (the officiant and Lynchburg legend). Katie organized a first look with her father, surprising him with one of the greatest dresses I have ever seen. It could not have been more perfect for Katie and her father could not have had a better reaction when he saw his daughter. In addition to the beautiful letters and tears from many moments before the ceremony even started, the florals and the colors were perfect, and the bridesmaids dresses (white tops and blush toule skirts) with the navy blue suits worn by the gentlemen was an amazing combo.

Watching the Davis and Miller families come together to celebrate Rachad and Katie was amazing to see and I am still mind boggled that I got to witness it from start to finish. Everything from Rachad and Katie reading their letters to the party portion of the evening was perfect. I loved seeing the dance floor full of people all night long and even at the end of the night, it wasn’t easy to get keep people off of the dance floor for Rachad and Katie’s exit. Katie and Rachad are perfect together and when they saw each other at the ceremony, you could see on their faces that it was a long wait, but it was absolutely worth it. A huge and happy congratulations to Rachad and Katie!
